Find of the Week: Blue Denim Watches

Despite its humble beginnings, Denim is a true style icon. There’s more than just trousers that you can have finished in Denim. Denim wallpaper? Sure! Denim watches? Why not?

This is a lovely little watch and good news for us guys is that it’s marketed as unisex. It is a little bit crazy with its faux crocodile skin strap end but hey, isn’t that why we love D&G?

If you’re looking for quality, you won’t be disappointed, it’s got a Japanese quartz movement, none of that cheap Chinese nonsense that just dies on your wrist. I spotted a few on Amazon but I understand the line is being discontinued. If you happen to spot one somewhere else, do let us know via comments. Price – a little over £100.

Guess Blue Print and Iconic

If you’re ready to spend a little bit more (approximately £140 depending on the retailer) take a look at the Denim collection presented by Guess Watches.

Guess Blue Print Ladies

Guess Blue Print Ladies (or Unisex)

The Blue Print is marketed as a ladies watch, however, I’d like to argue that this is more of a unisex than ladies. It’s not too tiny to be worn by a guy and as far as the faux diamonds are concerned, a guy can wear a diamond or two…

The Denim-styled watch aimed at gents – Blue Print Iconic is not as exciting as the ladies one, although for the price, it’s still a desirable watch.

You’re likely to find one at a larger Debenhams store, if not, you’ll have to go to the Guess’ own Regent Street, London store. Design numbers for your reference are W0289L1 and W0040G6 respectively.

Hublot Oceanographic 4000 Denim and Jeans

Now, if you’re happy to spend tens of thousands on a wristwatch, check the new Hublot’s collection. This is a little bit confusing because the watch that is called “Denim” isn’t actually made of Denim, it doesn’t even provide a hat-tip to Denim’s texture, only to its colour.

The dial is made of a matte blue synthetic material while the strap is Denim-colour Gummy Alligator Strap (no Actual alligators were harmed in the process of making this watch).

You’ve guessed right – the texture of the strap is that of an Alligator skin, not of Denim. If this watch floats your boat, be prepared to spend over £18,000.

The real thing – the one that actually looks like a Denim watch, is called Hublot Oceanographic 4000 Jeans. It was conceived as a special limited edition of 21 units by Hublot and Zegg&Cerlati. It’s the ultimate beach watch – pity the summer is over.

Both the dial and the strap are really made of superb quality Italian Denim. It is available (I mean “was” because I bet most of the watches have already been bought) exclusively from just 3 locations worldwide: Zegg&Cerlati boutiques, in Monte-Carlo, Austria and Switzerland. The price is not disclosed.

If you’re wondering what happens to the beautiful Denim strap after you’ve dived 4000 metres deep, don’t worry, you get an alternative rubber strap to replace the Denim (AKA City) strap when you swap your suit for a diver’s costume.
